Dookie

洋楽歌詞のシリーズ第1回。ボブ・ディランにしようかと思ってたけど、こないだの「自分の人生に大きな影響を及ぼした20選」から洩れたグリーンデイにします。

まぁ歌詞なんて深い意味がないものが多いし、解説っていうよりは音楽を聴く上でもう少し曲のことが知れたらいいかなー、ぐらい。詳しい背景はわかったら書くけど、基本的には気になる歌詞を改めて調べて、読んでいろいろ想像したりしてそれで終わりにするつもり。

グリーンデイは青春。『American Idiot』以降、政治的メッセージが強くなり音も商業的になり、自分としてはまったく面白くないのだが、インディーズを含む初期は鬱屈した十代の衝動っていうものをそのまま表現していて聴いていて気持ちがいい。

大事なのは日本でいうブルーハーツみたいなとにかく前向きな言葉を歌うのではなく、とことん後ろ向きで暗い。しかし、曲調がそれに反して躍動感があるというギャップが粋。

 追記：Dookieってうんこのことだよね、確か。デビューアルバムのタイトルがこれって...お国柄ですかね。と言うか、ノリが常にBeavis and Butt-headなんだな。
